2019 - 2020 EXECUTIVE BOARD Application 

The Black Business Student Association Executive Board application for the 2019 - 2020 academic school year is now available. Any official member of BBSA is eligible to apply for any position. Applicants will need to submit this application, meet for an interview, and present a presentation at the end of year banquet on March 30th. Applications are due March 15th and interview rounds will take place the week of March 18th.

Executive Board Application Form 

​

 

 

President
  • Presides over all BBSA meetings; exercises general supervision over the business of the committees and communicates with other organizations on behalf of the BBSA as required.  Schedules rooms, serves as a faculty liaison, takes care of the BBSA property, and invites guest speakers to BBSA meetings.  Must be present at all Business School Council meetings, if unable to attend a meeting, the President must delegate authority to another member of the BBSA officers to represent and report information to the Council.

  • If the Presidency is vacant for any reason, the Executive Vice-President will immediately succeed the office of President for the remainder of the term.

​

  •  Registers the organization with the Student Organization Resource Center, Business School Council, Black and African Coalition, and any other conglomerates we deem necessary to be a part of every year.  Ensures that BBSA has an active advisor and is in compliance with all Arizona State University regulations and Student Organization Resource Center regulations.

Executive Vice-President
  • Perform all duties pertaining to the office, and serves as a spokesperson for the BBSA

  • Presides over all BBSA meetings if the President is absent

​

  • Acts as President in the absence of the President as needed

​

  • ​If the office of the Executive Vice-President becomes vacant due to acceptance of the President’s position, or for any other reason, the Director of Finance will immediately be promoted to the Executive Vice-President

​

  • Will have the responsibility of ensuring that all the Vice-Presidents are effectively holding any special meetings they call for their committees.  Oversees the appointing of Directors to the special committees underneath the Vice-President positions, as well will oversee the need for these committees.  Will create a system of reporting that will allow the Vice-Presidents to give feedback on how things are going, and then report this feedback to the President

  • Will do any other tasks that the President asks them to do and ensure that the Vice-Presidents are doing any additional tasks

​

  • Will serve as the main Corporate Relations contact to get employers or organizations to attend meetings or conferences

Vice-President of Finance
  • Makes all disbursements and expenditures with the approval of the BBSA President and Advisor.  Ensures all disbursements and expenditures are used within the parameters of any Arizona State University or other funding regulations.

  • Prepares financial budgets at the end of each month and semester for the upcoming month or semester.  Also prepares a post budget analysis at the end of each month and semester to ensure we are on track with our plans.

​

  • Reports the financial standing of the BBSA to the Executive Board only; also writes proposals for funding

​

  • Should do things to ensure that BBSA has the proper amount of fundraising for any events BBSA wants to do

​

  • Appoints Director for Fundraising Committee.

Vice-President of Marketing
  • Handles all of BBSA advertising for meetings and events, meaning the redesign, printing, and distribution of these materials.  Works closely with the Vice-President of Finance to prepare a budget for anything you may need done.  

​

  • Writes proper and detailed statement for the Business School Council Newsletter (Carey Connection) regarding BBSA meetings and events.

  •  

  • Presides over the BBSA website in all technical and logistical aspects. Ensures that it is up to date and has the most pertinent information on it.

 

  • Should possess technical skills on website building and will work closely with someone who has these skills if not.

 

  • Appoints Director for Recruitment and Academic/Educational Retention committees.

Vice-President of Community Relations
  • Represents the BBSA at any organizational meetings both on campus and off that is not already assigned to the President or Executive Vice President.  This means that they should take this upon themselves to build a relationship with any organizations that they deem necessary.  

 

  • Works with the Director of Marketing to promote and advertise BBSA events and functions to the community in which they have established ties.

 

  • Serves as the primary person to establish any community service events that the organization will do for the year.  Should establish a relationship with the Arizona State University Community Service Program to learn of things we can latch on to.

 

  • Appoints Director for Social Activities and Community Service committees

Vice-President of Communications
  • Presides over the OrgSync (SunDevilSync) program, which is our primary source of communication with all members.  

 

  • Should work closely with all Executive Board Members to ensure that communication is flowing well throughout the organization.

 

  • Is the person responsible for taking the minutes of all Executive Board meetings and General Body meetings. Minutes must be sent out via email within 24 hours of the prior meeting.  They are also responsible for ensuring that any special meetings held by committees are effectively communicated to the general body upon completion.  This does not mean they must be in attendance at all meetings, but instead should appoint someone to take notes at all meetings.  

 

  • Responsible for sending out bi-weekly newsletters which must be sent out within 24 hours of new updated presented.
